Equipping Less Able
Student 1
My name is Neema Namunyak Kiara. I am a student at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa currently pursuing my bachelor’s degree in law. I am done with my first year and I am joining my second year in September 2024 God willing. I write to you today seeking for your assistance in paying my tuition fees so that I can continue with my studies with no disturbances and inconveniences.
Since the demise of my dad in March 2020, my mother and I have been facing a lot of challenges one of them being paying my school fees. I did my primary school education at Whitestar Academy – Langata. My dad paid my school fees throughout my entire primary school education. By God’s grace I completed my primary school education in 2018 and managed to get 404 marks in my KCPE examination. I joined St Joseph’s Girls’ High School – Chepterit in 2019. However, while I was in form 2 just before the COVID-19 pandemic my father passed away and when I resumed school in 2021 January after the corona long break, that is when the school fees challenge started for us. Some friends helped us out where they could. We also got bursaries which also helped. Fortunately, I was able to complete my highschool education and attained a B+ in my KCSE examination. However, I still have some school fees arrears that is around ksh, 53,000 which I am yet to clear so that I can get my results slip and school leaving certificate.
In September 2023, I got admitted at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, but we still have challenges in paying my tuition fees. My dad was the breadwinner, and my mum doesn’t have a job therefore it becomes difficult for us to pay my school fees. I applied for the helb loan which helps me by paying about half of the school fees every semester. The other half some friends and family help us to pay where they can. My school fees for every semester is ksh 112,100. By God’s grace, I was able to complete my first semester with no school fees arrears. However, delay in paying my school fees has sometimes caused me to fail to register my units on time sometimes my mum had to go to school to plead with them to extend for me after not meeting the deadlines.
Therefore, I am humbly pleading for your assistance in paying my university school fees. I also struggle with my school transport to the university and back home. We struggle with our home shopping at times also. Some neighbours and friends have been helping where they can. My mum and I sometimes have nothing at all, my mum has been looking for a job, but it has been difficult to find one. She has done home care nursing (care giver). Therefore, any help will be appreciated.
Thank you,
Kind Regards,
Neema Namunyak Kiara
